Spacey Game News 5/6-7/13: The Frantically Catching Up Edition

All The News That’s Fit to…Oh…Radio…

Hellloooooo everyone, and happy Tuesday! Sorry about the lack of a news post yesterday, just too crazy with stuff, so I’ll get caught up today, and there’s a bunch to go over, so let’s get to it!

Dominion – This Kickstarter has relaunched! Yay! There’s also a ton of updates, including an episode of Worlds (which, honestly, this is the first I’m hearing of, but will be embedded below), a 3D print of a model ship, an Imperial Worlds Catalog, a Maia crossover, a new reward tier and some concept ship art. Now that’s dedication folks, so head over and check ‘em out.
Rodina – There’s a new trailer showing off some in-game combat both in orbit and in atmo. WANT NOW PLEASE.
Void of Darkness – We have two new videos to watch on IndieDB, one on weapons and one of some general gameplay using the dynamic event system, both will be embedded below. There’s also a blog post on exploration which makes for great reading.
StarDrive – Several more reviews, this time from Strategy Informer, Dealspwn, The Digital Fix and 7idgaming (in German). Thanks to cwilsons on the official StarDrive forums for helping find these.
Earth Doom - I’ve never even heard of this game until today, but this IndieGoGo campaign is for a new version of an old browser-based text game of the same name.
Star Trek Online – There’s a new preview and dev blog for Legacy of Romulus, and the game was also featured in Star Trek Magazine. Cool cool cool.
Fringespace – I don’t know if I’ve reported on this before, but this is a mod/total conversion to make Freespace 2 into Tachyon: The Fringe, and you can see the awesomeness in these new Bora fighter models.
X3: Reunion – The X3: Reunion DLC Bonus Package is available on Steam for free. Apparently – “This complete package contains all existing bonus plugins for users that own X3: Reunion.” Nifty.
StarMade – The dev reports a new texture pack and performance improvements in the latest patches.
EVE Online – Both the Escapist and VGN24/7 have articles on EVE’s 10th birthday. Happy belated birthday EVE Online! Oh, also, The Mittani has word that TEST left the HBC alliance. Eeep!
Star Citizen – There’s a lovely picture of the ORIGIN 300i over on Facebook for y’all to gawk at. ;)
AI War - There’s a new patch entitled “The Guard Before The Storm” which prepares the game for a NEW expansion entitled, “Vengeance of the Machine”. Hopefully we’ll learn more on that soon.
And Here the Wheel – Not much to report according to this non-update update on the book based on Elite: Dangerous.
OreSome – There’s a new post talking about the shipyard, among other things.
Vendetta Online – There’s a new update which fixes framerate issues, tilting on tablets and other things…

Space Game News and Deals 4/18-22/13: The Owwie Edition

Hellooooo everyone, and welcome to Monday! I’m off today on account of getting a tooth removed, so I’m writing part of this before I leave for my little operation. I’ll write the rest when I get back, likely on drugs, to add to the entertainment. ;) Sorry for the lack of news later last week, the week totally got away from me. That said, let’s get into some newwwwwws bitches! ;)

Homeworld – Gearbox has purchased the IP. Apparently, according to PC Gamer (and other sources, but I saw it there first), someone — and we don’t know who yet — snagged the Homeworld IP in a recent auction of THQ’s assets. Sadly, it wasn’t to the teamPixel folks who’d been trying to hard to raise the funds. Hopefully it ended up in good hands, but we don’t know yet, sadly.
Infinite Space 3 – There’s some new art and a combat video over on their Kickstarter page. We’re also gonna be interviewing some of the folks behind this game for this week’s podcast, so stay tuned! :)
Void of Darkness – A couple of updated for your reading pleasure. First, a forum update, followed by a role-playing update, which is nifty.
StarMade – There are some new server stability fixes and the fixing of a ghost bug.
ScrumbleShip – According to the dev’s Kickstarter and IndieDB pages, there will be a new launcher for the game called ScrumbleGet. This I like.
Ring Runner – According to a post on their Kicksarter, their lon-linear arch is nearly complete, which has me all aflutter, as I love non-linear anything. There’s also an interview with their Dryere brothers — the lead devs of the game — in The Leader, which is a good read (based on what I skimmed anyway). ;)
EVE Online – Loooots of stuff recently. First, from the official site blogs, there’s news of a single sign in for account management, a spotlight on EVE Backstage, and info on the client and EULA modifications. Then from The Mittani, they have articles on the burning of Jita, the death of Aeon, ten years of GARPA and an epic brawl in Ardia which resulted in the loss of ten capital ships.
Star Rift – Thanks to Goomich over on Steam for letting me know about this new game on Greenlight. It looks like a first/third-person space combat/trading game, and you can learn more from the official site or from the trailer, which I’ll embed after the cut.
Star Trek Online – There are dev blogs on Romulan ship progression and a revamp to the UI, as well as a video showing off a Legacy Pack, which I’ll embed below.
Icarus Ascends – The dev for this game came onto our forum to let us know about this game, which looks pretty cool. Go check it out! I’ll embed the video below.
Escaping Titan – Congrats to the team on their super successful Kickstarter, which brought in over 300% of its goal.
Infinity – Rock, Paper Shotgun has a nice article summimg up where the game is now after all this time.
Beyond Beyaan – There are two posts covering UI and data in the game.
StarDrive – According to a post on RTS Guru, the game will be available this Friday, April 26th. They also have a preview to boot. I’m working on my own preview too, so please stay tuned. :)
Star Conflict – The latest update to the game brings along sector conquests with it. Nifty!
Vendetta Online – The game has now been officially released for the iPad! One more reason I wanna get one someday! ;)
Star Citizen – Part three of the Writer’s Guide is now up, and you can also watch a video with team member Adam Poole, which I’ll also embed below.

But wait, there’s more, we also have some deals to gawk at!!

GamersGate has Endless Space: The Emperor Edition for $17.48 and Galaxy on Fire II HD for $6, which is a steal.
You can get an EVE Online 30-Day Starter Pack on Green Man Gaming for $4.99
The latest Indie Royale bundle has Dawnstar amongst its games for $5.31 as the current minimum.
Finally, the current Indie Gala bundle has both Gimbal and Mass Effect 2 for the minimum of $5.23 as I write this.

So Many Pieces of News…

Haaaaaaaayyyyy folks, happy Whenever-I-Finally-Post-This! ;) I hope these last weeks have found you all well, and less busy/tired than I’ve been. ;) I’ve just not had time to do the news (or much else) in the past several weeks. That’s a-changing though, for a couple of reasons. First, work is slowing down, so I’ll have more physical and mental energy to put toward the blog. Secondly, I found I was more productive on the blog before my awesome girlfriend moved in, so I’ve come up with the hopeful solution of setting aside certain nights of the week, and weekends when I have time, to dedicate time and energy solely to this blog. This should help me find a better balance and begin to put out content more regularly again. :)

As for news, let’s just dive in, as there’s a TON to go over (so much so I’m putting it under a cut):

Spacey Game News and Deals 3/9-11/13: A Mish Mash of Stuff

Two Things I Need a LOT of Right Now…

Hey folks, happy Monday! I hope y’all had a superb weekend! There’s a TON of stuff to get through today, so we’re not gonna dilly dally, rather we’ll just get right through it:

Endless Space – Lots of news for this one today! First, the Virtual Awakening add-on has been released, followed by the news they’ve sold 300,000 units! Wow! Then, the folks at iGameRadio have an audio review of the Mac version of the game, and finally it’s on sale on Steam as one of their week long sales.
StarDrive – Plenty for this one too. We have previews from Space Sector and Out of Eight, as well as well as the first part of a Let’s Play video series from legendary Let’s Play creator Das24680. All videos will be embedded below, including these. Stay tuned for my preview also, which I hope to have by the end of this week or early next. ;)
Void of Darkness – First, on our forum, the lead developer is looking for some help alpha testing the game. Then, on the game’s official site, there are some various updates concerning the game’s progress.
Limit Theory – Josh has posted his latest update summary on the game’s forums.
Angular Velocity – Sadly these guys lost their update server, but according to this update it’s all being sorted out.
StarLife – We now get to find out more about the ominous Empire in the game. I wouldn’t wanna run into one in a dark alley…
EVE Online – The official site has a new cover story that’s lengthy but looks neat based on my skimming. The Mittani have their usual slew of awesome articles, this time covering EFT tanking and the destruction of the NCDOT carrier fleet at their own hand. Wow.
Star Citizen – Polygon has an interview with Chris Roberts about the Occulus Rift and other fun stuff. The official site has a general update with news on a new avatar, new forum and other coolness.
Imperium Galactica Stargazer – There’s a new forum on their site with a small Q&A for y’all to read which hopefully answers some common questions about the new game.
Ring Runner – There’s a new post on their Kickstarter discussing a new Sage’s Challenge, pendants and more!
Retrobooster – There’s a new blog update with a video showing off a refinement of conveyor beams, among other nifty things. The demo to this was fun, by the way. ;)
OreSome – There’s a new blog post on IndieDB discussing the possibilities surrounding multiplayer.
Vendetta Online – There’s a new update which basically includes a ton of little fixes.

Now, onto deals! There are a few besides the Endless Space one above. Here goes!

Galaxy on Fire II HD is going for $6.80 as Steam’s daily deal today. TOTALLY worth it.
Gratuituous Space Battles Complete Pack — which doesn’t appear to includes the latest DLC, but EVERYTHING else — is $5.25 on GamersGate. That’s a freaking steal.

Finally, in related news, a gentleman named Joseph Ybarra — who was one of the co-founders of EA and helped produce Starflight, Alien Legacy and other spacey games — has a new planet colonization game on Kickstarter called Shackleton Crater that y’all should take a gander at.

Spacey Gamey News and Dealsies 2/21-22/13: Random Bucket of Randomness

Hey folks, happy Friday! Sorry about the lack of news yesterday, was a crazy day and just didn’t have time. There’s two days worth of stuff here, so let’s get right to it!

Vendetta Online – The Kickstarter — which has only 53 hours left with only 44% funded — has a new update showing off the game on an iPad.
Beyond Beyaan – Their Kickstarter — which has four days left and is 95% funded — has a new post showing off two races and new stretch goals.
Rules of Engagement 2 – Thanks to reader Robert for letting me know that OMG THE MANUAL IS FINALLY AVAILABLE ONLINE. Head over to Scribd to check it out.
EVE Online – The Mittani has two great articles up, one on the U930 massacre, and one on learning the hard way in the game about luck and loss.
Enemy Starfighter – First new update in a while! This time there’s a post on new AI in the game, which looks awesome.
Star Conflict – There’s a new patch called Guarding the Space that optimizes the graphics and controls, as well as new wallpaper for y’all to download.
Endless Space – Apparently their 4th add-on will be titled Virtual Awakening, and they have a post showing a new hero and new tech. Fun stuff, I hope!
Escaping Titan – Tyler was interviewed by the folks on Gamezone about the game.
StarDrive – The folks at IncGamers have written up a lovely preview of the game.
Star Citizen – There’s a new issue of The Lost Generation on the official site, and their Facebook page has a cool modeling graphic of a Bengal carrier.
Star Trek Online – Apparently Andorian escort vessels are now available in the game, and they look wonderfully menacing, I think.
StarLife – There’s some new concept art by Aimee Seaver for y’all to gawk at. :)
FringeSpace – Thanks to Jim for letting me know about this one. It’s apparently a project to remake Tachyon: The Fringe in the Freespace engine. I love the idea.
Stars of Call – On our forums, user Mutos let us know about a Naev total conversion that’s based on their original fictional universe. It looks pretty damned cool, and you can try it out for free.
Ring Runner – There’s a great new video showing off a multiplayer match with bots, which I’ll embed below the cut.
Bitfighter – This is a new free multiplayer space combat game over on Desura that looks kinda fun.

Now, in deals, there are a LOT to go over, so let’s dive in:

Gratuitous Space Battles is having a free weekend on Steam, plus the game itself is 75% off, meaning the base game is $3.74 and the “complete” pack is $4.74. The discount isn’t on the latest DLC though.
Lunar Flight (PC, Mac) is on sale at GetGames for 4.99.
The Indie Gala Colossus bundle includes a copy of Galactic Civilizations 1: Ultimate Edition along with a buncha other games if you pay around $5 as I write this.
Amazon is having a HUGE Farewell to February sale, which includes a few space games such as Space Empires 5 for $4.99, O.R.B. for $2.49 and Spacebar (which I’ve never heard of) for $1.24.
While not technically a space game, Sword of the Stars: The Pit — from the folks who made the Sword of the Stars space games — is finally available and going for $8.99 on GamersGate. Initial impressions are quite mixed on this one.

Finally, in kinda-related news, one of the co-founders of the Unity engine, which a lot of space game devs are using these days, it seems, has left the company to make games on his own. Finally finally, Ziff-Davis closed down 1Up, UGO and GameSpy yesterday, all of which gave decent coverage to space games, so I wish all those folks luck in finding new gigs.

Space Game News 2/4/13: Not That Manic a Monday

Hello, and happy Monday! I hope y’all had a great weekend! Mine was alright, I’m not feeling awesome, and the girlfriend had a fever, so it wasn’t as awesome as it could’ve been, but we did get a lot of West Wing (girlfriend’s first runthrough) and The Wire (my first time through) in. ;) Aaaanyway, you’re not here to read me ramble (and if you are, [insert whichever diety/dieties you believe in here] help you), you’re here for NEWS, so here it is! (Remember, videos will be after the cut.)

Vendetta Online – There’s a new video talking about large-scale AI in the game to make it more dynamic.
EVE Online – The CCP folks are doing a mass test on Singularity this Wednesday, and whoever is involved in helping squash the bug they’re looking for will get 2 million skill points.
StarDrive – There’s a new developer’s update over on Facebook which fixes a lot of small bugs for the latest version of the game, 0.95.
CLR – The devs of this game wrote me and let me know, among other things, that there’s a Steam Greenlight page for the game with videos and stuff that look pretty cool! There are two videos on this one, which will be below.
Ring Runner – There’s a new update on Kickstarter about some of their community involvement as well as a sneak peak on the upcoming game update. Yo dawg, we heard you like updates…
Stars! Nova – Was just informed of this update or remake of Stars!, which looks pretty nifty. Hasn’t been updated in ages, though. :/
Dominion – There’s a new blog entry about a camera attachment that lets you take pictures anywhere you want in the game.
Miner Wars 2081 – Wanna see what this game looked like back in 2001 when it was first conceived? Check out the early video. Wow.
Rogue System - There’s a new update about their upcoming Kickstarter campaign, which should start in a bit more than a week! Yay!
Lunar Flight – The game’s author posted a new update about the game’s future, including the addition of multiplayer. THAT’LL be fun to watch, at least. ;)
Edge of Space – There’s a new weekly update over on the game’s forum about how the game is coming along.
Deep Space Settlement – There’s a new screenshot of a standalone turret, which is SO PRETTY.
StarStrategy – Remember this one? Well he’s not updated his blog in ages, but you can now download .11 of the game over on SpaceSimCentral’s forums, as well as see some new screenshots and read the changelog on the actual blog.
Predestination – There’s a new video of planetary colonization and such that looks really awesome. Thanks 4xgamer!
Freespace 2 – Last but certainly not least, there’s a new version of Freespace Open over on Hard Light Productions for all you awesome folks still playing FS2. ;)

Now, in kinda related news, Chris Roberts interviewed Chris Taylor of Gas Powered Games about his Wildman Kickstarter campaign in a new segment on the Star Citizen type entitled “Game Changers”. Finally, the devs of the space 4x board game Hegemonic asked me to promote the final hours of their Kickstarter campaign, so here we are. ;)

Spacey Game News 1/18-21/13: The Apology Edition ;)

So. Much. News!

Haaaaay everyone, happy Monday! Also, in the U.S., let’s take a moment to remember the amazing man that was Martin Luther King Jr., for I know I wish he was still here with us. In happier news, it’s my staycation! WOOOOO! Sorry I didn’t post on Friday, but I had a CRAPTON of stuff I had to do that day before leaving work, so this is a catch up edition of the news, and there’s aplenty of it, so let’s get started!

I just wanna help push the latest Skyjacker kickstarter, as it has four days left and I’d REALLY like ‘em to meet their goal this time. ;) You can also read little article Rock, Paper Shotgun wrote up on ‘em, as well as my Q&A with the devs from way back. Please give if you can. :)
The Vendetta Online folks have launched their own Kickstarter to help fund the creation of an iPad version of the game as well as the latest major revision to the existing game. Speaking of the existing game, there’s a new update with a bunch of fixes.
According to a post on the Kinetic Void Kickstarter page, the Kinetic Void folks are planning for the first alpha to be available hopefully around mid-February, with a beta to follow in April. Yay!!!
In a press release, the Miner Wars 2081 folks have detailed a new patch which adds an offline mode, a cheat mode and numerous bug fixes. They also have a lengthy topic on the new patch over on Steam which goes into more detail.
The Galaxial blog has a huge new update talking about color variations for asteroids and sectors, railguns and optimizations to their rendering.
Thanks to 4xgamer for pointing out that there’s a new Star Lords alpha available for your downloading pleasure. Dunno how I missed that.
I also don’t know how I missed a new patch for Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space, but thankfully Blue’s News didn’t. ;) I thought I was on these people’s email lists or something. ;)
There’s a new update on the StarMade blog talking about its new faction system.
There’s some lovely new wallpaper for y’all to download over on the Star Conflict site. They also have a new patch which improves corporations.
The Ring Runner folks have added Tom Servo of Mystery Science 3000 to their payroll, apparently. ;)
The folks at TruePCGaming have posted their review of Drox Operative (which I’ll be getting to this week I SWEAR). ;)
Over on their forums, the Amplitude folks have posted where multiplayer stands in Endless Space.
The folks at IGN have a Let’s Try Video of Zigfrak, which I’ll embed after the cut.
There’s a new update for Evochron Mercenary on the official site (you just download the whole kit and kaboodle and install it over your existing installation, FYI), which apparently helps with frame rate issues and a bunch of other stuff.
The IndieDB page for OreSome has a list of the latest patches, as well as news of a preview over on Dad’s Gaming Addiction.
A new EVE Online deb blog talks about the new duelng feature.
There’s a new story series called “The Lost Generation” over on the Star Citizen website, and the first issue just launched.
There’s a new update on the Star Command Kickstarter talking about why the gamehas been delayed.
According to a new post on the SlipSpace Kickstarter, the game will now support the GameStick thingy.
Over on Twitter, Celsius Game Studios has a new screenshot of an Egret in Drifter for us to gawk at.
Finally in spacey gaming news, there are some new concept art shots of Edge of Space over on the game’s forum.

There’s also some non-direct space gaming news from folks related to space gaming, such as:

Rock, Paper Shotgun has an interview with Homeworld Art Director Rob Cunningham about his new RTS and his time at Relic, among other things.
Kerberos Productions — the folks behind the Sword of the Stars games — CEO Martin Culis wrote an open letter to the Obama Administration about weaponizing space, according to GamePolotics.
Cliff Harris — the bloke behind Gratuitous Space Battles — has announced Democracy 3 on his blog.
Finally, Gamespot has an article entitled “Kickstarter is a Full Time Job” (which I believe it is) which includes Jamin Smith — who I interviewed a while back — from Strike Suit Zero’s team in the panel.

Spacey Game News 1/16/13: Light News Day!

Short on One, Full of The Other. Guess Which. ;)

Hello y’all, and happy hump day! Surprisingly little amount of news today — hence the title, which I might do more of ;) — so rather than diving in and hitting our head, let’s just step in, shall we? ;)

There’s a new patch for Drox Operative that adds some economic features, multiple fighter bays and more. Sounds like a great reason to get back into it after a short break, huh? ;)
The Roberts Space Industries Facebook page has a lovely new photo of ~~what I think is a Constellation~~ a Bengal class carrier (thanks Chris!) from Star Citizen. ~~It’s sorely tempting me to spring for one as an add-on (I got the Freelancer).~~ This no longer applies, does it? ;)
According to Pocket Gamer, Star Command won’t be coming out this month as previously reported. Don’t know if this is also for the PC version or just the mobile version, but it’s likely a delay for one is a delay for all. According to the dev’s Facebook page, this has to do with revising the tutorial. I’m fine with that. ;)
The Star Trek Online dev blog has been updated with a new post about staffing new and expanding starbases.
There are two new EVE Online dev blogs talking about development for 2013 and beyond, and a look back at 2012.
There’s a new patch for Vendetta Online that fixes delivery missions, UI issues and so on.
Finally, the Ring Runner folks posted a graphic showing the game’s development progress on their Facebook page. Spoiler, it doesn’t look like it’d too far off. :)

Spacey Game News and Deals – 1/7-8/13

Haaaaaaaaaay youuuuu guuuuyyysss! How are ya? I hope y’all are doing awesomely! Me, I’m still under the weather a bit, but feeling better today, so I’ve got a frakton of news to get off my chest, finally. Let’s dive in!

First off, there have been a TON of Drox Operative reviews, and you can read ‘em over on GAMINGtruth, Giant Bomb (video, which I’ll embed below), Bytten, RPG Codex and Gametactics. Gamercast author Charlotte Wooley also named it one of her top games of 2012! Huzzah!
Indie Game Magazine has their own nice things to say about Zigfrak. :) They also have a small article on Elite: Dangerous.
Over on GamaSutra, they have a lovely article about the making of Spacewar! and how it relates to video game history.
Dominion has a whole new website for you to feast upon!
The Indie Games Weblog has listed their top 10 indie strategy games of 2012, and FTL made the list (but I won’t say where). ;)
Over on the Starship Corporation website, they have new screenshots, a new version of the ship designer for you to try, and on YouTube they have a new tutorial to go with it (embedded below).
Rock, Paper Shotgun has an article about the recently released Ur-Quan Masters HD update.
There were two small patches released for OreSome, according to their IndieDB page.
4xgamer has word that a Halo mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is in the works, for all you Halo fans out there. ;)
The Predestination website has a Kickstarter wrap-up article that goes into excellent detail about where they money is going and so forth. They even have graphs!
Vendetta Online has a new patch that lets you easily add waypoints to the navmap, plus a buncha bug fixes.
Starfarer has been renamed to Starsector “for business reasons” and has a new version out with a new character screen and other improvements.
There’s a new dev build of Star Made entitled “Factions”. I assume that’s what it adds but I’ve yet to try it.
OMG, there’s an update on the Space Rangers HD: A World Apart page! They say the game will be released Q1 of this year in both English and Russian at the same time! Yay!
According to Massively,the long-thought-dead Firefly-based MMO, Firefly Universe Online, is now moving forward after receiving “well wishes” from Fox and announcing it on their Facebook page. However, after being accused of fraud due to an association with the Yes Men — who apparently are known for making fake media announcements — the devs of the game, DarkCryo, responded to the allegations on GameInformer. Wheeee!
Over on their Kickstarter, the Slipspace folks have announced support for the Ouya console.
According to their offical site, you can now find RetroBooster on PenguinSpy, a Linux gaming network thingy.
Space Sector is running a contest for some StarDrive beta keys. Go! Enter!
We have two Elite: Dangerous related videos. The first is an official video teasing some Cobra combat, while the second is a fan-made short film called The Return of the Cobra. These will both be embedded below.
Finally in the space-game related news portion of our show, the SolCommand website is soliciting suggestions for more game models for their artists to create.

Next up, in related gaming news, THQ’s assets are going up for auction on 1/22/13, according to VG247. This includes Volition, creator of the Freespace games. Best of luck to all of them. Then, Kickstarter sent out a little The Best of 2012 slideshow, and what’s interesting here is that while no space games are mentioned specifically, there was $83,144,565 backed for games projects from 1,378,143 backers, which is more than any other category by a wide margin, so yay for games!

In non-gaming news, we have great ship designs from Michael Tassie and Darren Bartley over on the Concept Ships blog.

Finally, there’s unsurprisingly — after all the holiday sales — only one deal today, that being Star Wolves 3: Civil War for $14.99 on Green Man Gaming Today.

Spacey Gamey Post-Christmas 2012 News and Deals

Hey y’all, happy Wednesday, and welcome back from Christmas break (if you had one, that is)! How was everyone’s holiday, and what did y’all get? ;) Mine was awesome, and I hope yours was too! Now with that said, let’s see what’s happened over the break…

Over on Space Sector, Adam has an interview with Brain and Nerd CEO Brendan Drain regarding Predestination as well as a rather scathing review of Sword of the Stars II.
Speaking of Predestination, their Kickstarter has been updated with a galaxy map prototype video (embedded after the cut) and more details on colonization, which looks cooler and cooler the more I read about it.
In FTL news, there’s a new update that adds colorblind mode, specific action hotkeys and a lot more. Forbes also put the game at the top of their Most Challenging Games of 2012 list! Congrats, I think? ;)
Over on the CRPG Addict (which you might recall inspired this site), he takes a look at the two Space games. I’ve not played Space II yet, but Space was surely a pickle.
Over on the Kickstarter for Skyjacker, they have a new update covering alternative payment methods, content generation and more. The vids will be embedded below.
There’s a new update for Vendetta Online which mostly consists of bugfixes.
PC Gamer has an article about their recent experience with Freespace 2 after a new install with the Freespace Open additions. It’s a good read, but I think I’ve read it before…
The Star Conflict folks are having a holiday-based contest where you can send your holiday greeting to the community. Pretty cool!
There’s a new BorderSpace dev update video (embedded below also) which shows off a new H.U.D., new targeting modes and more! It’s SEXY!
There’s a new mod for X3: Terran Conflict/Albion Prelude called X-Tended – Terran Conflict 2.0 which looks really damned cool. That one is coming up on my review list, so I’ll have to give it a whirl.
According to 4xgamer, the Star Lords folks have relesed their second alpha (registration required). Wow, I thought that project was dead in the water, so good on them! :)
Peter over at Matchsticks for My Eyes has his initial impressions of Drox Operative.
The Galaxial blog has a new post looking at user interface customization, which is nifty.
Finally, the Sol Command website has some new models of asteroids for your modeling needs.

In non-spacey game news, the folks behind AI War, Arcen Games, have released the beta for their 2.0 version of A Valley Without Wind. All existing owners of AVWW get 2.0 for free, and you can get ‘em both right now on Steam for just $5.99, which is an amazing deal. I put a decent amount of time into AVWW and found it a ton of fun, so I can’t wait for the sequel.

Finally, in deals, Get Games is having their Cheap as Chips sale and you can get Star Wolves, Star Wolves 2 and Star Wolves 3: Civil War for $2.70 each, the chepest I’ve ever seen ‘em, and totally worth it. :)
