Spacey News and Deals 5/15-17/13: The Bring On the Weekend Edition

Hellllllloooo my friends, and happy Friday! The weekend is FINALLY upon us! YES! Sorry about the lack of news for the past couple of days, there was some other stuff I needed to get done first before this, so I hope y’all don’t mind. :) Even though my time has been consumed with Distant Worlds: Shadows, I’ve still managed to fit in some X3: Albion Prelude, so I’ll have something on that early next week. I also hope to tackle some more TIE Fighter this weekend as well. But enough about me, there’s a LOT of newsiness to talk about!!!

Distant Worlds: Shadows – Speaking of which, that crazy cat Das24680 has three new videos of him playing the game. THREE. I wish I had his dedication/energy. YouTube user quill18 also has a Let’s Try video of him playing the game. These’ll all be embedded below too.
EVE Online – Several articles today, first from the official site, including a look at the next decade and an article on the Crossing Zebras podcast. Then, The Mittani has an article on introducing kids to the game, as well as reduced clone costs in Odyssey.
Infinite Pixels – Thanks to Rock, Paper Shotgun for making us aware of this “voxel space exploration game“. Oh look, there’s a trailer as well! :)
Star Trek Online – We have a two new Legacy of Romulus dev blog entries, one on the Klingon Defence Force, and one on the Numbus adventure zone.
Gimbal – There’s a new expansion for the game that adds new game modes, new parts, new maps and more. Looks like now’d be a good time to try it, huh? ;) I got a copy last year and it sadly fell through the cracks during my nutty Summer. I should rectify that problem…
Star Sonata 2 – There’s also a new expansion pack coming for this game next month called “Subspace Assault” that which adds restructured content and other stuff.
Aeon Command – The devs have posted the first part of the game’s post mortem, which makes for great reading.
Rogue System – There’s a new dev diary entry over on the game’s forums.
Predestination – There’s also a new April dev update for this game on the game’s official site (which REALLY needs an RSS feed, dangit). ;)
Star Citizen – There’s a new video up interviewing customer support guru Brittany Godfrey, who we’ve likely all dealt with at least once. ;) The video will also be embedded below. There’s also an update showing storyboards of the planet Stanton Landing, a new writer’s guide installment, and a fan focus video which I’ll embed below.
X3: Albion Prelude – There’s a big new 3.0 patch for the game that adds new plots, mission types, controller support and so on. A small hotfix was shortly released afterwards to fix some savegame issues. ;) Looks awesome, I can try my new 360 gamepad with it. ;)
Strike Suit Zero – There’s a new update looking at their Oculus Rift support, which I sadly can’t embed (silly Kickstarter vids).
Void of Darkness – They have a new website with more information on the game for y’all to check out. :)
Lunar Flight – The multiplayer beta is now available on Steam for PC players!
Epic Space Game – There’s a new version of the game which includes an official Mac client, an improved H.U.D. and more!

Now we have deals!!! First, I suppose to celebrate the release of its major 3.0 patch as noted above, some of the X games are on sale at a few places, such as:

Space Game News and Deals 3/13-19/13: Serious Ketchup Needed

SO MUCH NEWSINESS!

Helllloooo everyone! SOOO SORRY I’ve been lax on posting the news, but I’ve been just SO busy and SO tired I’ve barely had a break for anything else. In fact, that TIE Fighter video below was pretty much all I’ve had energy for recently until now, thankfully. I’m finally feeling more awake and human, and need to get both you folks AND myself informed as to the latest spacey gamey stuff going on, so let’s dive in, it’s pretty deep.

Escaping Titan – The Kickstarter for the Escaping Titan rulebook collection has launched, and has a very modest funding fee which will, I believe, help fund the game itself. I know I’m kicking to it, are you? ;) These guys will also be on the next episode of the podcast, so stay tuned!
Weird Worlds – This awesome, AWESOME game is now on Steam! YAY! Go get it! :)
Horizon – Got word today that Iceberg Interactive will be publishing this game! Congrats to them!
Star Citizen – Lots of updates here. First, Gamasutra has an interview with Chris Roberts on his crowdfunding successes. Gameinformer also has an intterview with the main man. Then, the official site has some Terra concept art, a new issue of “The Lost Generation“, a fan spotlight on ship designs, and a video with lead artist Mark Skelton, which will be below.
I.O.U: Isle of Universe – Thanks to Demorve on Quarter to Three for pointing this out to me. Over on Steam Greenlight, there’s an interesting looking game called I.O.U: Isle of Universe which I’d never heard of before, but looks nifty as heck, so I’ma keep an eye out on it. :) You can see a video of the game in action after the cut.
Starflight II – The CRPG Addict has posted several entries covering his look at the game, which are all fantastic reads as usual. :) If you’ve not played this, they’re VERY spoilery, FYI, so proceed with caution.
EVE Online – Holy crap, lots of articles on this one. The official site has stories on The Angel Project and a dev blog on the war on bots. The Mittani has a look at the The Burning Life novel, two articles on the use of carriers, and various articles covering the TEST Alliance, EVE University’s head resigning, incoming planetary ownership in Dust, Li3 Alliance having its wallet stolen, a look at the revised Black Ops system, and a look at the old Naglfar cap ship. Whew!
Star Conflict – The Mittani also has an article on getting started in the game. There’s also a small Q&A on the official site.
FTL – Polygon has a lovely little story about the background of the game and its success.
Kerbal Space Program – Version 0.19 has been released which includes Linux support, atmospheric effects, new parts and a lot more. I need to make another video of this ASAP.
AI War – There’s a new update entitled “Core Foamhammer” which adds new versions of eighteen ships.
Beyond Beyaan – There’s a new update on wormholes and starlanes for y’all to read.
Distant Worlds – Rob over on One Guy, Too Many Games has reviewed the game and found it didn’t click with him, sadly.
Star Lords – According to a Tweet from the game’s developer, you can now get Alpha 3.0 at the official site.
Limit Theory – There’s a new progress update over on the the game’s forum which, as always, is a great read.
StarDrive – To help make up for my own lack of a preview (SORRY, been so busy), I present to you this comical Let’s Play forum series.
Angular Velocity – There’s are a couple of progress updates as well as a new video, which will be under the cut below.
StarStrategy – The lead developer is looking for help with some graphics for the game. There’s also a new screenshot, new video, and some progress updates.
Void of Darkness – There’s a new call for alpha testers, and a new video to gawk at as well!
Miner Wars 2081 – There’s a new update for the game which apparently includes the source code!
Elite: Dangerous – Thanks to Wild Bill for sending these in! :) There’s a new progress update video up on Kickstarter.
Infinity – Wow, twice in as many weeks with a new update, this time talking about the possibility of a Kickstarter and other fun stuff.
Predestination – There’s a new race reveal! Meet the Sauros! Aren’t they ADORABLE? ;)
Galactic Reign – This is a new game that looks like a fun space conquest game, but is only available on Windows 8 and Windows Phone, so I likely won’t be playing it. Sighs. Thanks VGN247!
Drox Operative – JUST UNDER THE WIRE. Just as I was about to post this story, I saw there’s a new patch for the game which adds…new colors on some ships…oh, and a bug.

Next up, SolCommand has some lovely models for your game creation usage, this time of a Giza Pyramid ship, a Dyn shield emitter, a Kurat Command Ship and some futuristic towers. Finally (OMG I KNOW), the Concept Ships blog has lovely art from rd7, Colin Foran and Jon McCoy.

Spacey Game News and Deals 3/2-6/13: OMG I’M SO BEHIND AAHHH

Glug Glug SO MUCH NEWS Glug

Hey folks, happy Wednesday! Sorry for the severe delay in, well, nearly everything, but I’ve had a HELLUVA week. I was out of town most of the weekend and had to put in several extra hours at work so I could take some time off today, but it’s all for a good reason. ;) Now I’m back in town and kinda rested up, and there’s a TON of news to go through, so let’s get to it…

Star Citizen – There’s an update on the Clean Shot Shipping saga, a screenshot of a base head (no, really), and a video showcasing Sandi Gardiner Cloud Imperium’s VP of Marketing, which I’ll embed below the cut.
Rogue System – There’s a new video showing off clips of combat and discussing the AI which will be embedded below. There are also updates on his Kickstarter talking about core ship systems and a new $150 tier.
Homeworld – The teamPixel folks have no also launched a Kickstarter for their Homeworld Touch and Homeworld 3 pitches, and have video of the Touch version in action that I’ll embed below.
Endless Space – According to their latest dev blog, the Virtual Awakening add-on will be released on March 11th. The post also has some other tibits about the expansion as well. There are also posts on new exploration events and new victory warnings.
NASA Game Jam – According to Rock, Paper, Shotgun, the folks at NASA are a hosting a game jam this coming weekend to make games about space and science! Can’t wait to see what comes out of it. :)
Drox Operative – There’s a new beta batch that alters Shadow cloaking, fixes bombs and other little fixes. There’s also a new review on Gaming Trend.
Ring Runner – Sadly they didn’t win The Next Game Boss, but lead programmer Enrique Dryere thanks us for our support. There’s also a new video showing off ship customization which looks REALLY helpful to someone like me. ;) There’s also a video of an exclusive multiplayer reveal on MaskedGamer and one of the space city alpha build. These will all be embedded below. Finally there’s a preview of the game over on Indie Statik.
Space Rangers HD – Thanks for Puce Moose on Gamers with Job for translating a Russian Tweet from the devs stating the release date for the game will be March 15th! Yay!
Void of Darkness - There’s a new dev blog post on interface and combat notes. They also have a new combat test video, which I’ll embed below.
Starsector – Eurogamer has a nice little preview of the game.
EVE Online – The Mittani has a great article on revisiting bounty hunting one about loving faction war and one about music to play in the game. There’s also a new video showcasing the massive Battle of Asakai, which I’ll embed below.
Star Conflict – The Mittani also has a review of this game, which I should actually play some more.
AI War – The latest patch, called “Nemesis of the Dubious Honor“, deals with champion AI and other things.
StarLife – There are new posts showcasing some music, diplomacy and a custom race screen.
Strike Suit Zero – As I said in the most recent podcast, Born Ready Games released a massive patch that adds checkpoint saves, difficulty settings, a cockpit view and revises the targeting. I might actually play this again. ;)
Kinetic Void – There’s a new update on their Kickstarter page showing off some of the game’s new art, which looks lovely. There’s also a development update I somehow missed. :/ Sorry folks.
Space Explorer – The owner of the SolCommand site let us know that a user named “Leocesar” is working on a new game, which looks awesomely Homeworldesque, and you can see a video of it after the cut. ;) You can read about it also on the Unity forums. They also have some new models to be used in your upcoming space games. ;)
StarMade – There’s a new blog post on IndieDB about preloading surrounding sectors, which sounds like an awesome idea.
Starflight II – The CRPG Addict has begun his extensive look at the game, which I can’t wait to see more of.
FreeOrion – Thanks to Free Gamer for letting us know that a new version of FreeOrion has recently been released, which improves the AI, includes many GUI enhancements and so on. There are also some YouTube vids showing off the game, the playlist to which I’ll embed below.
Dominion – There’s a new piece of concept art on their website.
Kerbal Space Program - There’s a new fan video showing us the story of Kerballo 13. ;) It’ll also be embedded below.

Spacey Game News and Deals 2/25-26/13: Catching Up Edition

Hello everyone, and happy Tuesday! Sorry about the lack of news yesterday, had a dentist appointment and no time to put into this, sadly. Fun times! This mean I have news from today, yesterday and the weekend to cover, so let’s dive in!

Endless Space – There’s a new screenshot of a new Automaton hero, Mizn Ora-Yur, from the upcoming Virtual Awakening expansion. I love the look of it.
EVE Online – The Mittani has some great EVE-based articles such as the sin of sloth in the game, news on a new battle of U930, a look at the sovereignty system, some unrest in the Li3 federation and finally, an interview with the folks behind the EVE documentary called “A Tale of Internet Spaceships“,
Freespace 2 – Speaking of The Mittani, they take at look at the BEST SPACE COMBAT SIM EVER in their Nostalgia files.
Star Citizen – There’s a new update entitled, “Information as Currency; the Rise of the InfoAgent” which talks about this career path.
SlipSpace – There’s a new dev video on their Kickstarter page that I sadly can’t embed, but it looks nifty!

Void of Darkness – This is a new Starflight-inspired game sent into me by reader John, so thanks John!

Space Game News 2/4/13: Not That Manic a Monday

Hello, and happy Monday! I hope y’all had a great weekend! Mine was alright, I’m not feeling awesome, and the girlfriend had a fever, so it wasn’t as awesome as it could’ve been, but we did get a lot of West Wing (girlfriend’s first runthrough) and The Wire (my first time through) in. ;) Aaaanyway, you’re not here to read me ramble (and if you are, [insert whichever diety/dieties you believe in here] help you), you’re here for NEWS, so here it is! (Remember, videos will be after the cut.)

Vendetta Online – There’s a new video talking about large-scale AI in the game to make it more dynamic.
EVE Online – The CCP folks are doing a mass test on Singularity this Wednesday, and whoever is involved in helping squash the bug they’re looking for will get 2 million skill points.
StarDrive – There’s a new developer’s update over on Facebook which fixes a lot of small bugs for the latest version of the game, 0.95.
CLR – The devs of this game wrote me and let me know, among other things, that there’s a Steam Greenlight page for the game with videos and stuff that look pretty cool! There are two videos on this one, which will be below.
Ring Runner – There’s a new update on Kickstarter about some of their community involvement as well as a sneak peak on the upcoming game update. Yo dawg, we heard you like updates…
Stars! Nova – Was just informed of this update or remake of Stars!, which looks pretty nifty. Hasn’t been updated in ages, though. :/
Dominion – There’s a new blog entry about a camera attachment that lets you take pictures anywhere you want in the game.
Miner Wars 2081 – Wanna see what this game looked like back in 2001 when it was first conceived? Check out the early video. Wow.
Rogue System - There’s a new update about their upcoming Kickstarter campaign, which should start in a bit more than a week! Yay!
Lunar Flight – The game’s author posted a new update about the game’s future, including the addition of multiplayer. THAT’LL be fun to watch, at least. ;)
Edge of Space – There’s a new weekly update over on the game’s forum about how the game is coming along.
Deep Space Settlement – There’s a new screenshot of a standalone turret, which is SO PRETTY.
StarStrategy – Remember this one? Well he’s not updated his blog in ages, but you can now download .11 of the game over on SpaceSimCentral’s forums, as well as see some new screenshots and read the changelog on the actual blog.
Predestination – There’s a new video of planetary colonization and such that looks really awesome. Thanks 4xgamer!
Freespace 2 – Last but certainly not least, there’s a new version of Freespace Open over on Hard Light Productions for all you awesome folks still playing FS2. ;)

Now, in kinda related news, Chris Roberts interviewed Chris Taylor of Gas Powered Games about his Wildman Kickstarter campaign in a new segment on the Star Citizen type entitled “Game Changers”. Finally, the devs of the space 4x board game Hegemonic asked me to promote the final hours of their Kickstarter campaign, so here we are. ;)

Spacey Game News 1/18-21/13: The Apology Edition ;)

So. Much. News!

Haaaaay everyone, happy Monday! Also, in the U.S., let’s take a moment to remember the amazing man that was Martin Luther King Jr., for I know I wish he was still here with us. In happier news, it’s my staycation! WOOOOO! Sorry I didn’t post on Friday, but I had a CRAPTON of stuff I had to do that day before leaving work, so this is a catch up edition of the news, and there’s aplenty of it, so let’s get started!

I just wanna help push the latest Skyjacker kickstarter, as it has four days left and I’d REALLY like ‘em to meet their goal this time. ;) You can also read little article Rock, Paper Shotgun wrote up on ‘em, as well as my Q&A with the devs from way back. Please give if you can. :)
The Vendetta Online folks have launched their own Kickstarter to help fund the creation of an iPad version of the game as well as the latest major revision to the existing game. Speaking of the existing game, there’s a new update with a bunch of fixes.
According to a post on the Kinetic Void Kickstarter page, the Kinetic Void folks are planning for the first alpha to be available hopefully around mid-February, with a beta to follow in April. Yay!!!
In a press release, the Miner Wars 2081 folks have detailed a new patch which adds an offline mode, a cheat mode and numerous bug fixes. They also have a lengthy topic on the new patch over on Steam which goes into more detail.
The Galaxial blog has a huge new update talking about color variations for asteroids and sectors, railguns and optimizations to their rendering.
Thanks to 4xgamer for pointing out that there’s a new Star Lords alpha available for your downloading pleasure. Dunno how I missed that.
I also don’t know how I missed a new patch for Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space, but thankfully Blue’s News didn’t. ;) I thought I was on these people’s email lists or something. ;)
There’s a new update on the StarMade blog talking about its new faction system.
There’s some lovely new wallpaper for y’all to download over on the Star Conflict site. They also have a new patch which improves corporations.
The Ring Runner folks have added Tom Servo of Mystery Science 3000 to their payroll, apparently. ;)

Spacey Gamey News and Dealsiness – 12/14-18/12

The News is Back!

Hey folks, happy Tuesday! SO SORRY I didn’t post yesterday, but I was sick as a dog. Apparently I have a bronchial infection, woohoo! It subsided for a week or so but came back full force this past weekend, so badly that I went to the doctor yesterday. Now I have drugs!! Woohoo! So let me bring you up to speed on all the spacey gamey newsiness in my drug-enduced sleepy haze, and enjoy!

First, there are a bunch of news bits about Elite: Dangerous. First, Frontier Developents laid off fourteen people as a result of “changing mix of skills requirements for our current and future projects”. I’m sure I speak for us all when I say we wish them the best of luck during this tough time. Despite this, the number of updates over on Kickstarter has really kicked it up a notch. These updates include part 3 of the Chris Roberts/David Braben Interview (embedded after the cut), an updated FAQ, a new render of an Anaconda plus news that anyone pledging over ninety pounds will get all content updates forever, and a video with David Braben talking about the game’s development plan (also embedded below). WHEW.
The Kickstarter for Skyjacker has its first update about why it exists, as well as a new update looking at transformations, which is really nifty!
Adam Solo over on Space Sector has an interview with the CEO of Iceberg Interactive about all sorts of fun stuff!
There’s a new spacey game coming called Barrage which is a 4X thingy that we don’t know much about yet, but sounds nifty! The dev let me know about it via Twitter.
The Predestination Kickstater has a new update looking at their first stretch goal, accepting Paypal donations and more.
The Dominion Kickstarter page has a new update in which they blow crap up!
There’s a new reviews of Drox Operative over at Gamer Living, ElcomeSoft, GamerCast and a video review by Strafing Forward as well! Yay! (Yes, I know I have mine to do. :P) You can now also buy the game from the Mac Game Store.
There’s a video preview of Retrobooster over at GamersDissent. Looks like a good time.
The Star Citizen site has an update about their partnership with Behavior Interactive, an update on their forums and plenty more.
There are two new meaty Limit Theory updates on their Kickstarter, including a space station tech demo and new stretch goals, among other things!
There’s a new dev blog talking about Polaris, the third free content update for Endless Space.
There are some new screenshots of Strike Suit Zero on their Facebook page.
According to their blog, Ensign-1 now supports Xbox 360 controllers.
There’s a new blog update on the Rodina website talking about revamped planet generators.
A new update for Star Made brings a shield system, a revised chat system and more!
Star Conflict now has friends lists as part of their most recent update, according to their blog.
Finally, RTS Guru has an article entitled “Do Strategy Gamers care about Visual effects?” that mentions FTL a bit.

Spacey Gamey News and Deals – 12/5-10/12

Taking Hold of the News Once Again!

Hey y’all, happy Monday! I’m mostly back, and while I’m not feeling 100% — maybe 70-80% — but that’s well enough to try and get y’all caught up with nearly a week’s worth of spacey gamey newsey goodness! There’s a lot to cover here, so let’s dive in. :)

First off, there’s a buncha EVE Online news. According to their blog, the MOMA exhibit they’re in opens today, along with an entry on their in-game holiday celebration. Finally, VG247 has an interview with the game’s lead designer about the recently released expansion pack and much more.
In Star Citizen news, they have a Friday Update which, among other things, shows off renderings of the MISC Freelancer ship (the ship I kicked for). It looks AWESOME. I’ll also embed the video after the cut. There is also a three way interview by Gary Whitta of both Chris Roberts and David Braben (Part 1, Part 2), which must’ve been awesome to do. I’ll also embed videos after the cut. Finally, PCGamesN has an interview with Chris Roberts on embracing Kickstarter and other stuff.
Next, congrats to the Predestination folks, as their Kickstarter was fully funded! YAY! They also have a new update showing how planetary exploration works, which I’ll embed after the cut.
The Kickstarter for Limit Theory has a really juicy update about how NPCs and the contact system works. That same update also has announced new stretch goals, such as planetary and faction ownership. There’s also an interview with Josh over on VG247.
The sequel to GalCon, named GalCon 2: Galactic Conquest, has also launched a Kickstarter campaign of its own. This time it’s going to be Free-to-Play apparently. Yay?
The Dominion Kickstarter has a link to this survey asking folks what they’d like to see in the game, to help them “target their efforts’. A noble goal. They’ve also added new vessels to their pitch, updated their FAQ and added a screenshot comparing their Earth to a NASA photo, which is cool.
The Kickstarter for Colonia has two new videos (only one I can embed) showing off research and production, which look nifty!
The folks over at God Mode have a review of Miner Wars 2081 that was generally positive.
The good people at 4xgamer have a great review of Drox Operative. Out of Eight games has some impressions as well, along with a video (which will be embedded after the cut)! That reminds me, I should get to mine! Oh, so much to do, so little time! ;)
Vendetta Online has a new update which adds a huge 39-mission tree. That sounds awesome! I should maybe try this out.
Another game that got an update was Gratuitous Space Battles, which includes all sorts of fixes and additions you can read about on Cliff Harris’ blog.
There’s also an update for Star Conflict, which adds a new game mode called Combat Reconnaissance and more. Sounds nifty! They also have a new dev diary video, which I’ll embed after the cut.
In other update news, Gemini Wars got a teensy-weensy update that fixes a few little things.
Final update, Sword of the Stars II got one that fixes a lot of bugs. All clear my eye.
The peeps over at RTS Guru have revisited Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion after the latest patch, which they seemed to like quite a bit.
Dirkson has an article over on IndieDB talking about how big space is and how that relates to ScrumbleShip.
Over on Space Sector, author dayrinni (their spelling, not mine, or else the D would be upper case), has the first in a series of making a 4X game that involves setting the stage.
Rock, Paper Shotgun has a wonderfully cynical article regarding Elite: Dangerous. ;)
The Star Command folks have posted an update on their Kickstarter page that the game should have a soft launch in January. Finally!
There’s a little new update about Oresome over on their IndieDB page showing some newish visual effects.
Ensign-1 has a new update that detailes a new camera, factions and music. I’ll embed the included video from the update after the cut.
Finally in gamey news, VG247 (linking a lot to them lately) themselves linked to a site called RGB Classic Games. The cool thing is they have tons of old games you can play right in your browser using a Java applet, which works awesomely. The only reason I include this is because they have a few space games, such as Astrofire and EGA Trek. There are a lot of classics here folks, so check it out.

The only deal I could find for today was an EVE Online – 30 Day Starter Pack at Green Man Gaming for $4.99.

Finally, the Concept Ships blog has some fantastic spaceship art from Kian Ng and Smyk Vitaliy.

Space Game News and Deals – 11/28-30/12

End Your Week with Some Newsiness!

Hey y’all, happy Friday! SO, SO sorry about the lack of news for the last couple of days, lots of busy work stuff that had to be finished and I just had neither the time or the energy. Things have slowed a bit now, so now I can get caught up, so let’s dive in, shall we?

The BIG BIG news is that Drox Operative has been fully released! YAY! If you have a beta version of the game, you can download a patch to bring it up to 1.000. I’ve spoken about the game at length, if you’re curious to read my thoughts, so if you’ve been waiting for the final version before diving in, now’s the time to try it. Don’t forget there’s a demo too that let’s you get up to level six.
The next piece of big news is that Steam has announced their next spate of Greelinght-approved titles, and both Blackspace (which is continuing despite a sadly-failed Kickstarter campaign) and Kinetic Void made the cut. Congrats to both teams!
Next up, Miner Wars 2081 was finally released, and you can get it on Steam and GamersGate, as well as view a launch trailer (also embedded after the cut). This is the mostly single-player version of the game, the MMO will be along later, FYI.
In Limit Theory news, the folks at Rock, Paper Shotgun also interviewed Josh about his game. ;) There’s also a new update on Kickstarter showing off a video of the ship editor, which I’ll also embed below. :)
The Kickstarter for Predestination announced that they’ve been 50% funded — yay! — along with revealing new concept art and more. Check it out.
PC Gamer has an interview with Notch where he speaks of 0x10c, kickstarter and a bunch of other fun stuff. Thanks to Blue’s for the tip.
According to the dev blog for Star Trek Online, the next update for Season 7 will bring promoted user-generated content, the ability to NPCs and more. Thanks to VG247 for the tip.
Thanks to Rock, Paper Shotgun for letting us know there’s now a demo for the cool looking spacey shooter Retrobooster, which I have to try. ;)
GOG has made a bunch more of their games Mac compatible, including Master of Orion 1+2, Star Control 1+2 and Star Control 3. Very cool stuff. I also just noticed this, but they must’ve added the soundtrack for Master of Orion 2 as well, since it wasn’t there when I originally downloaded it.
There’s a buncha Endless Space news! First, their second free content update was released, called “Echoes of the Endless”. This adds exploration awards, random events, new heroes and tons more. To help celebrate, Steam is having both a free weekend to play the game and is selling it for 50% off as well. Gamasutra has an article looking at the background of Amplutude Studio, and finally, 4xgamer has a nonsensical review of the latest release, which is pretty funny. ;)
There’s also been a ton of EVE Online newsiness as well. First off, Retribution will be deployed on December 4th, and some new dev blogs have been released detailing corp hanger changes, UI improvements, and the new safe logoff system. They’re also going to be included in the first round of games for an exhibit at MOMA in New York City dedicated to video games, which is very cool.
Both Star Conflict and the X3 Series have seen updates.
Finally in gamey news, there’s a new dev diary for Elite: Dangerous talking about how the galaxy evolves over time, and it’ll also be embedded in the cut.

Now, in deals, there’s a bunch to discuss.

There’s a new bundle at Bundle Stars which includes Star Wolves 2. Currently the price is $6.88 for all of the games.

*glug* SO MUCH *glug* NEWS

AAHHH! SO MUCH NEWS and DEALS! I’m drowning in it! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalp!

*coughing up water* Okay, here’s a bit that both news and a deal! HAH! Didn’t expect that one huh? So y’all remember Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space? Well apparently the folks behind it, Infinite Space Games, severed ties with the folks at Shrapnel Games and can now sell their games on places like Desura and Steam for much cheaper than before. Speaking of cheap, it’ll also be on IndieGameStand starting next Monday! AWESOME. There’s also a new launch trailer you can watch by clicking the link or watching it below. :) This is awesome, as these guys deserve more sales.
In other big news, Kerbal Space Program will soon be “sandbox complete” with what they’re calling their biggest update yet. To celebrate this and their second anniversary, they’ll be hosting a KerbalKon on November 30th with dev talks, interviews, contests and more! I hope to get an early review copy so I can finally, seriously dive into it and hopefully not crash every time I try to fly anything. ;)
There’s a lot of Endless Space news today, including a new dev blog entry talking about multiplayer, a new trailer over on Facebook (which is too big to embed below) and a new review over on TruePCGaming.
Over on the Kickstarter for Limit Theory, Josh wrote a little entry about reaching his funding goals, as did Rock, Paper Shotgun.
In Star Citizen news, there’s an interview with Chris Roberts from PressPlayOnline (which I’ll embed below) as well as a new FAQ covering insurance and more.
