SGJ Podcast #06: The Bottom of the Cargo Container…

Darklight-Conflict

F*ck Off Darklight Conflict…

Hey folks, welcome to the latest episode of the Space Game Junkie Podcast. This week, Jim and I discuss the bottom of the barrel in terms of space gaming. We talk about games we hated, were disappointed by, or just generally disliked, all in the hopes of helping y’all avoid the same mistakes I’ve made (trust me folks, I’m a professional). ;)

If you have a space game you hated that we didn’t cover, or anything else you’d like to chime in on, don’t forget to hit us up below or in the forums. Thanks for listening, as always, and enjoy!

Site Stuff: Site Migration Incoming Soonish…

Still fixing stuff!

Changes Comin’…

Hey folks, how are ya? Sorry it’s been quiet on my end here, just been damned busy with work and life for the most part and feeling really sluggish, so getting back into the swing of things hasn’t been as quick as I’d like. Regardless, I wanted to let y’all know that within a week or so, I’m gonna be moving this site to an entirely new host, since I’m REALLY getting tired of my current one with it’s slowness and its outages. Sure, I get what I pay for in terms of shared hosting, but now I think this site has moved a bit beyond that, and deserves as more dedicated solution. You guys, too, also deserve a faster, more stable site. It’s my hope that y’all won’t notice anything during the switchover, but there likely will be some little bits of downtime. I’ll do my best to keep y’all informed. Thanks for your time, and have an awesome day!

Let’s Play TIE Fighter – Entry 8 – A Slight Snorefest…

This entry is part 8 of 25 in the series TIE Fighter Review
TIE Fighter Entry 8 Screenshot

Inspector Alpha 1 On the Job…

Welcome back to my Let’s Play TIE Fighter series! In this entry, we play a slightly boring mission involving inspecting cargo containers to get the parts for a base we want to build. In this first mission of Battle III, “Load Base Equipment” — wow, even the NAME is boring — I am joined by my girlfriend Nicole. This is part of an experiment to see if this would be funny/entertaining, so I hope it is. :) Enjoy!

Off-Topic: Aaaaahhh, Much Better…

Skyrim Screenshot

Such a Gorgeous World…

Hey guys and gals, how are ya? I just wanted to check in and say hey, and give y’all a me/blog update. ;) As I’ve said, March has been a rough month for me, with lacking time and energy for both gaming in general as well as for this blog. Well, this past weekend I began work to get back into the groove, and it began with Skyrim…12-13 hours of Skyrim over two days, and my GOD do I feel better. I figured I should get some gaming in for me first before I began to tackle the blog again, because the last thing I want this blog to feel like is a chore or anything. That said, tonight I’ll be returning to TIE Fighter and finally, FINALLY diving into X3: Albion Prelude. Thanks again for your patience and your patronage folks, it means the world to me. Have a great day! :)

SGJ Podcast #05: Interview with Broken Crown Games

Titan Doesn't Look So Bad...

Titan Doesn’t Look So Bad…

Hey folks, sorry for the lateness of this week’s podcast. CRAZY week. That being said, this week Jim and I sat down with Asa Gillette, Chris Cheng and Tyler Yohe from Broken Crown Games about their Escaping Titan sourcebook Kickstarter, the game itself, and bunch of other random nonsense. ;)

We hope you enjoy it, and as always, and feel free to leave any comments or questions below or in the forum. Sorry for the shortness of this post, but I have to get back to doing all this work. Also, there are some more adult-oriented themes at the end of this one, so if you have kids in the room, be careful (the convo got a bit wonky, but hopefully funny). ;) Enjoy!

Space Game News and Deals 3/13-19/13: Serious Ketchup Needed

Stack of Newspapers

SO MUCH NEWSINESS!

Helllloooo everyone! SOOO SORRY I’ve been lax on posting the news, but I’ve been just SO busy and SO tired I’ve barely had a break for anything else. In fact, that TIE Fighter video below was pretty much all I’ve had energy for recently until now, thankfully. I’m finally feeling more awake and human, and need to get both you folks AND myself informed as to the latest spacey gamey stuff going on, so let’s dive in, it’s pretty deep.

Next up, SolCommand has some lovely models for your game creation usage, this time of a Giza Pyramid ship, a Dyn shield emitter, a Kurat Command Ship and some futuristic towers. Finally (OMG I KNOW), the Concept Ships blog has lovely art from rd7, Colin Foran and Jon McCoy.

WHEW! I need a nap! Have a good one folks, and I’ll try to make these more regular in the coming week, but don’t be surprised if I miss a day or two, as I’m just swamped. :/ Thanks for visiting and reading, as always, and have a great day!

Again With the Y-Wings...

Again With the Y-Wings…

Welcome to my latest installment of Let’s Play TIE Fighter! Here I finish the last mission of the second battle, or campaign, called Guard Resupply. In this mission, I’m tasked with helping bring in some new TIE Advanced, but things get a bit hairy as I soon find myself without any wingmen. Enjoy! ;)

Off-Topic: HOLY CRAP RL IS CRAZY YO

Craaaazy Crazy

Brian-Time-Sleep-Gaming = Crazy Brian :/

Heeeeeyyy guys. How are you? Me? Oh, you know, things are mostly good, but kinda crazy, which is why I’m writing this. You may have noticed that besides news posts and podcasts, content’s been a little light. I hope you’re wondering why, because I’m gonna tell ya. ;) First is the lack of time. In the past two-ish weeks, I’ve been out of town for a whole weekend, working extra hours to take some extra time off (which was used to basically record three podcast episodes last week) and going to the doctor four times in the last two weeks, followed by various pharmacy visits. This has left very little time for, well, anything except scant downtime at home before going to sleep. Work has also been busier than usual, and will continue to be so for at least a week or two longer.

This has led to the second problem, a lack of energy. Due to the insanity of my schedule lately PLUS the daylight savings time change, which totally messed up my internal clock, I’ve been getting much less sleep than I’m used to. This has left me with barely enough energy for the one-to-two hour daily commute and work day, let alone coming home to work on the blog effectively, to the level of competence that you folks deserve. I feel bad, but at the same time, I’d rather approach this with much more energy, rather than sleepily half-assing it.

This all has led to the final problem…I’ve barely played any games in the last two weeks. Besides that sliver of TIE Fighter below, various PBEM turns in Civilization V and some little roguelikes on my Andoid phone, I’ve not really played anything else. To a hard-core gaming addict such as myself, these are like crumbs rather than full meals, and I can actually feel myself going through withdrawal, which is making me cranky and not wanting to do things. Ugh.

So there ya have it. I’m busy as hell, tired, cranky and shaky due to withdrawal, and it’s making for a fun time. ;) I just wanted to update y’all as to why I’ve been pretty quiet of late. I’ll try to get back in the saddle soon, hopefully this weekend, but until then, I thank y’all for your patience and your patronage. Love you guys! :) Thanks for reading, and have an awesome weekend.

SGJ Podcast #04: Chris. Freaking. Roberts.

Chris Roberts Directing

The Man Himself

Oh. My. God. I’m still so flabbergasted and amazed we got to talk to this industry legend that I can mostly talk in one-two word sentences. Oh.  My. God. ;) Seriously, Jim and I were lucky enough to sit down to talk to the man himself about his games and his movies, and it was completely fascinating. Mr. Roberts was very generous with his time and his candor, and we can’t thank him enough for spending some of his valuable time with us.

Oh, and OMG, he said he liked my site. SQUEEEEEEE! Seriously, I’m still on a cloud folks, no lie. :) We hope you enjoy the podcast, and invite your comments and questions below in the comments or on the forum. Thanks for listening, and please feel free as always to follow our RSS feed or iTunes feed. :) Have a great day!
