Getting Back on Track – Daily Dispatch (Hahahahaha) for 12/7/18

Sooo Pretty

Opening/Random Thoughts

Heeyyyy friends, how are you? I’m…tired. I think I’ve been a bit burnt out lately, as my motivation for doing these — let alone anything for the site — has been pretty low. I also blame the new PC, as all I wanna do is play games on it and little else. ;) That said, I’m always glad to get back on this horse.

Videos have been slow too because I’ve just not been too excited about a lot of the space games coming out of late (I won’t mention any specifically, but not a ton have been really jazzy of late), so I’ve just been enjoying my time with my new PC, which has been lovely. That doesn’t mean there’s been NO work happening…

Today’s Video(s)

X4: Foundations is likely the most accessible X game ever. In the previous games, finding missions — one of my main things in any open space game — was way, way more difficult and time consuming than it needed to be. Now, you just find them on the map as you move about the universe. While there are still issues with bugs and unexplained things, again, this is by far the most fun game I’ve played in the series so far.

Last night, a few of us got together to play Star Trek: Bridge Crew, and besides oddities getting things up and running, once one is in the game proper, it’s a total blast. Why they can’t make more good Trek games like this, in this day and age, I have no idea.

Earth Defense Force continues to be fun as hell, especially when you add big robots into the mix.

Since we were gonna talk to the developers of Interstellar Rift on our podcast, I spent some time with the latest beta, and found a far more fun and compelling game than the last time I tried it.

The aforementioned podcast with the developers of Interstellar Rift was a lot of fun!

Today’s News

Now a lot has happened since my last dispatch, so I’m gonna organize these as such:

Game Releases/Announcements:

Developer Entries/Diaries:

Major Patches/Updates:

Minor Patches/Updates:

Today’s Deal(s)

What I’ve Been Playing

  • X4: Foundations – This is probably the most I’ve been enjoying any X game, because it makes things easier to find, like missions, for example. I know it’s broken in some ways, and will take a while to truly flourish, but for now, I’m enjoying it.
  • Forza Horizon 3 – Still enjoying the hell out of this one. I have three festival areas now, and am real close to a forth.
  • 3030 Deathwar Redux – Like X4, traversing this universe is just a joy. I just wish X4 had its soundtrack.
  • Superfighters Deluxe – This fascinating platformer has insane controls, but those controls allow you to do all sorts of things, like pick up enemies and throw them at other enemies.
  • Hover – I’m really trying to get a hang of this game, which I’m enjoying a lot. I think I just need to trust it more, as I’m used to doing things like initiating climbing, but this game does that for you. It’s really good.
  • Hellgate: London – This one is really great to pick up and play, as it’s great for quick sessions, and so far its progressions is REALLY satisfying.

That’s it for now folks. The next post you read will be the first with WordPress’ new block/Gutenberg editor, so that should be neat. Hopefully it’ll also not be another month before I do one of these. I just get worn down sometimes I guess. Thanks for reading!
