Welcome to Pocket Space Empire my friends! In this game, you play a newly-cloned emperor of a space empire. The state of the empire itself depends on how you set up the game, so you can oversee a newly burgeoning empire, or an empire at the height of its power. Regardless, unlike other grand space strategy games, you won’t deal with building ships, sending out ships to explore and other types of minutiae, rather you’ll be dealing with higher-level stuff, like whether that planetary governor who’s not been pulling his weight should be fired, or what our empire-wide edicts should be on education, military recruitment and the like. It has a very grand feel to it, and it maintains its high-level focus very well. There are also plots to poison and usurp the emperor, illegal emperor clones, storylines for individual cabinet members and much more. I’ve been having a ton of fun with this early alpha, and I’m really enjoying seeing how the game is maturing and evolving. If it keeps going in this direction, it’s going to be not just an excellent strategy game, but a fairly unique one as well.
