Hailing Frequencies Open – 5/12/17 – Finally Friday!

Boom Boom Boom Boom.

Hey friends, welcome to Friday! The weekend is finally here! YAY! I am so, so, sooo sleepy today. Last night’s stream, which I’ll talk about in a moment, was really awesome but really draining! I went in thinking we’d be streaming for an hour, but we went for about two hours due to some random folks joining our sub and helping us survive WAY longer than we intended. It was great, but wow, tiring. Since I’m talking about it, I’ll just jump on it. Last night we played We Need to Go Deeper, a procedurally-generated co-up submarine adventure game, and it was awesome.

Seriously, I was not expecting this to be so funny and violent. At first, it was just Spaz and I, and we of course didn’t last long, which was hilarious. Then a couple of random Steam players joined us, and they had a LOT more experience than we did, Both Nate and ermagerd did a great job keeping us alive, and we collectively went deeper than any of us had before. We had a great time shooting and crashing and looting caves. This game is still in early access, and we had a LOT of fun with it, so y’all should totally check it out.

As for today’s videos, I spent time the other night with Empyrean Frontier, both in the skirmish and the campaign, and my GOD did I have fun.

In the skirmish, the AI did an impressive job of kicking my butt and keeping me on my toes, which was really impressive. In the campaign, I ran into some fun missions, such as running a blockade! This game is a lot of fun, and you should alllllllllllll buy it once it hit Steam, or now on Itch.io if you like Itch.io.

Last night, after the stream and dinner, I had a little time to kill so I played some more Discovery Freelancer. I went to some other systems to try mining there, but apparently had the wrong ship to do so, so I then bought some cargo that sells for a lot more at a far off station, and began to make my way there. This was a 45-leg trip, and I began to get tired around leg 15, so I docked and figured I’d go the rest of the way tonight. Should be a fun ride if I don’t die on the way.

This weekend I’m gonna cover some Dawn of Andromeda for the blog here, and I hope to get time for another Starsector video to make up for the one I recorded with crappy audio. I also hope to get some time in with LOGistICAL and the newly-released Rogue Islands. Since it’s Mother’s Day weekend though, I’ll have a smidge less time than I might otherwise, so I don’t expect to get a ton of gaming in this weekend. That’s okay though, I’ll make up for it in a couple of weeks over Memorial Day weekend, as I’ll have a ton of time to myself that weekend. That’s good because I’ll have to review both Everspace and Starpoint Gemini Warlords that weekend. Yikes!

Alright, onto news!

  • NEXT JUMP: Shmup Tactics has its first patch which adds a lot of little quality of life improvements. Check it out, the game is awesome.
  • Paradox is publishing a new Martian colonization game developed by Haemimont Games called Surviving Mars which, not a space game, still looks cool.
  • Battle for Orion 2 has a new patch, a new linux build, and its soundtrack is available for purchase!
  • Interstellar Rift has a teensy patch.
  • Stellar Tactics has a massive new patch that adds a faction vendor and fixes a ton of stuff.

That’s it my friends! Have a great weekend!
