SGJ Podcast #183 – BossConstructor

Boom Boom Boom

Hey friends, welcome to this episode of the Space Game Junkie Podcast! This week, Jim, Hunter and I sit down with Dr. Mirko Seithe, creator of the top-down space exploration, combat and construction game, BossConstructor. We talk about the game, the engine that makes it tick (OMG it’s JAVA y’all), the varied game modes, all the work that’s gone into it and so on. My favorite part of the episode though, and I have to again thank Mirko for his candor, is talking about the psychological toll independent game development can take on the developer themselves. I usually don’t ask about this sort of stuff because it can be pretty personal, but once the door opened, it led to, what I think, was a fascinating discussion on setting one’s own expectations for their own game development and staying sane throughout the process. This alone makes this podcast worth a listen, methinks. :)

Next week on the show, with the holiday season in full swing, we’ll discuss current and upcoming sales and gift ideas for the space game junkie on your gift list. :) If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about the show, please feel free to drop them below, email us at hail@spacegamejunkie.com or hit us up on the forums. Thanks so much for watching/listening, and we hope you enjoy the show!
