Site Stuff: Some Changes in 2016

Gonna Be an Awesome Year!

Hey folks, happy new year! I hope y’all had a lovely holiday season, and that 2016 is even more awesome for y’all than 2015! I’m chiming in because there are gonna be some changes around here that I wanted to let y’all know about. This stuff is relatively minor, but nonetheless I wanted to keep y’all in the loop. This includes:

  • Slightly altered calendar – As the podcast schedule is constantly in flux, I’m only gonna be posting the next two or three shows on the calendar, rather than the next several episodes. It was just taking me too dang long to change the podcast calendar once I had an update, such as a new guest and the like. Games of the week and Multiplayer Madness games are a lot more stable, so those calendar entires will go a bit more further into the future since I rarely have to change those.
  • Branching out of Multiplayer Madness – While we love playing multiplayer space games, we’re gonna run out of them eventually, so we’ve decided to branch out Thursday’s Multiplayer Madness to other games in other genres as well. While the primary focus will still be on space and sci-fi, we’ll likely slip in games like SWAT 4 or ARMA II in there, for example, as well. This helps keeps thing fresh not only for you, but for us as well. We’ll also try to bring more devs onto the Multiplayer Madness streams as well.
  • Striving for more one-off videos – While switching to a weekly schedule has been great for me (and hopefully for you as well), the recent Staycation Streaming festival showed I got way, way behind on one-off videos. If you’re curious, one-off videos are meant for either previews or for smaller games that, I feel, don’t need a full week to cover, such as shooters and the like. Therefore I’m going to try and do at LEAST one one-off video each week along with the weekly series as well. I was gonna try to dedicate a whole week every so often to one-offs, but that got complicated, which is the opposite of what I’m going for. I also need to dedicated a little bit of time to Rogue Game Junkie as well, as that totally fell by the wayside after my PC went down last year, and I wanna get back on that bandwagon.

So yeah, relatively minor stuff, but still important. In August this site will be five years old, and I hope to learn how to properly promote this site, as I feel that’s been my biggest failing. That will be my biggest goal for this year, to get more eyes onto this site’s content, whether here on on YouTube. To that effect I’m trying to make my working on the site more efficient so I have more brain space for promotion, you know? Thanks folks!
