Not Bad with a Gamepad.
With the release of X-Wing and TIE Fighter on GOG yesterday, it put me in (even more of) a mood to play some X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, so last night friends-of-the-site Nate and Hunter climbed into their cockpits and we had some fun flying and dying over on Twitch. :)
We’re still pleased as to how well the game works over GameRanger! This gives me hope that if GOG should ever get X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, they’d implement their Galaxy multiplayer support for it, because this game is a BLAST, and I typically don’t say that about multiplayer games.
Then, as so many people were asking how well these games worked with a gamepad, I took a 360 gamepad to the GOG DOS version of TIE Fighter to see how it fared. While I found it serviceable, I also found that the jerky motions that resulted in using such a small stick actually made me a bit nauseous. This has never happened to me before whilst playing any kind of video game, so I don’t think I’ll be repeating the experiment. However, if a gamepad is all you have, it should suffice.
Enjoy the videos, and thanks for watching!
