Howdy folks, and welcome to this episode of the Space Game Junkie Podcast! In this episode, Jim and I sit down with one of the creators of Ring Runner – Flight of the Sages, Enrique Dryere, to talk about the long road between the conception and the upcoming release of this awesome upcoming top-down Newtonian space combat RPG thing. :) As with all of our podcasts, the conversation veers off in several different directions, but that’s one of the constants of our chats, isn’t it? ;)

As always, we look forward to your comments below, and invite you to follow us through RSS or Itunes. :) Thanks for listening, and have an awesome day!

  1. That thing about the Archetypes and becoming accustomed to them? It’s so bloody true.
I thought about this myself as I was out cycling one day. I thought, my god, I love my bike so much, I know exactly what doing this movement will do, and if I lean into the curve like that I can hold it for two seconds before straightening out, and make a perfect turn…

Ring Runner is like that. You become accustomed to what you’ve equipped your ship with, and ability combos… but also piloting and handling, engagement tactics and attack power versus health ratios. It just all becomes so intuitive.

    1. Welcome to the comments, evilninjadude, and yeah, they really did seem to capture that pretty well. :)

  2. This was a good show. I really liked Enrique and your discussion about the game, even though you guys got side-tracked more than once or twice. :-D

As far as the game is concerned, actiony games aren’t always my cup of tea, but I watched the video on the RR site, and the game gave me a vague SPAZ vibe. SPAZ was a game that I liked enough to finish. So, I expect to give Ring Runner a look when it comes out.

    1. We always get sidetracked. ;) As for the game, it’s more Newtonian than SPAZ, totally, but yeah, it’s really worth a look. :)

      1. This time it seemed more than usual. :-)

I think the SPAZ vibe came from the developers as much as the game. I heard SPAZ devs on GWJ or 3MA or somewhere like that.
