Today I received a press release stating that the long awaited sequel to Sins of a Solar Empire, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, will finally take off on June 12th! Yay! Along with this, I received a video of the beta version for y’all to gawk at, as well as a trailer for the game. Both of which you can see after the cut. Enjoy!
Usually I save stuff like this for the Spacey Snippets, but since I’m home on a staycation this week, I figured, why the heck not give it its own post — especially since its my most anticipated game of this year. ;) The Drox Operative website has some new screenshots of the latest alpha, and besides the one above, you can click below for the other three. Enjoy!
Apparently ANOTHER new spacey game has been announced today (gotta love Games Press). This one, entitled Starlight Inception, is a first and third-person space shooter taking place 100 years from now after World War IV erupts. The game includes “combat both in space and on planets and moons, interplanetary exploration, and multiplayer dogfighting”. It’s also being put together by LucasArts alum Garry Gaber, who was project lead on Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns.
While the game looks cool, the kicker (hurr hurr) is that it’s also launched a Kickstarter campaign to get the funding to make the game happen. It certainly looks like a pretty cool game, so I know I’ll be kicking some money its way. Kickstarter’s kind of been a boon for space games, and it doesn’t need to stop now. :)
The folks over at TopWare have announced a new spacey strategy RPG entitled Planets at War. According to the press release, Planets at War is a “strategic interplanetary conflict simulator” with a 32-mission campaign in which you use your resources to smite your enemies. Sadly, the game’s website nor the press release are very descriptive as to HOW this is all done, but I’ll try to find more. Overall, it looks pretty nifty though, so stay tuned.
